We chose this as our logo for the benefit because of the significance of the Love is… comics in the lives of Bob Gikas and his wife Nancy. As long as she can remember, even before they were married, Nancy would find the Love is.. comic left for her in obvious places. Bob used the sentiment in these romantic and sometimes funny comics to express his love for Nancy. I know Nancy grew to look forward to these expressions. Similarly, the creator of this comic, Kim Casali, created the Love is… comics originally to give to her husband, Roberto.
Even on the day Bob died—a Love is… comic was there on Nancy’s refrigerator. It was the last one Bob had left her, or so she thought. On the day after Bob’s funeral, a friend called Nancy and told her that she should take a look at the Love is… comic from the day of the funeral. This was the comic that she saw…

We want so very much for loved ones who have passed to still be part of our lives. We want to know that somehow they are still there looking over us.
After seeing this comic, Nancy knew that Bob would always be there, looking over her and the kids. And when he couldn’t physically be there, we would be there.
That’s why we say Love is… Being There 4 Bob.
We want to be there for his family because we know he would want them taken care of. The number 4 signifies the four children he left behind.
